We each have our place of belonging. This is where mine began.

For several years I have been working on a project that focuses on the Yellowstone River. It was part of the destination I longed for during the year, waiting for summer to arrive. It became my focus in 2020 when the normal activities were shut down. I had the time to research, explore, contemplate and document my perception of the the river. I got up close to it, investigated the history, talked with others who felt connected to it. I have poured much of myself into this project.

I learned a lot, created much, grown. And Mm art has grown.

Eleven large ink drawings, vignettes inspired by a sense of belonging to this bit of water. and a solo exhibition. printed two prints early on. I am finishing with an artist’s book, similar to the books we grew up with but unique, in binding, covers, and content.

Though I am overshadowed by both my sister’s ability to write, I came to understand that I can write, too. This last piece, the artists’ book has nine images and vignettes. A soft cover text block is bound in a Thai Mulberry paper woven binding on a accordion spine.
